Waterford City and County Council has asked Kilmac.ie to highlight a new opportunity for eligible applicants interested in buying a home in Kilmacthomas. The Council and Kent Homes have 10 four-bedroom homes available for sale at Leargán, with support available through the Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme.
The update follows our earlier article, Leargán Kilmacthomas Brings New A-Rated Homes to the Village, which introduced the development and its planned A-rated homes close to local amenities, the countryside and the Waterford Greenway.

Under the scheme, Waterford City and County Council can assist eligible applicants with an amount of €75,000 by way of an equity stake, which can significantly reduce the purchase price for people who may otherwise be unable to buy a home.
The Council describes the Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme as a support for eligible first-time buyers who cannot bridge the gap between their savings, mortgage capacity and the full market price of a new home. In return for the reduced purchase price, the Council takes an equity share in the property, which can be repaid over time or when the property is sold.

Waterford City and County Council’s Affordable Housing page describes the Leargán homes as newly built, beautifully designed, semi-detached A2-rated homes designated under the Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme. The Council page also highlights Kilmacthomas as a village with local amenities, access to Waterford City and Dungarvan, and the Waterford Greenway running through the town.

This is a notable opportunity for people who wish to live in Kilmacthomas but may need assistance to make home ownership possible. Additional homes in the village may also support local schools, shops, clubs, services and wider community life.
