Kilmacthomas residents, local groups and businesses have an opportunity to contribute to the review of Waterford’s Community Safety Plan, as a countywide public consultation is now underway.

Waterford Local Community Safety Partnership has begun the consultation as part of a mid-life review of the Waterford Community Safety Plan 2023-2028. The partnership is also transitioning from a pilot initiative to a statutory body under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.

The official council notice states that the original plan was developed following extensive countywide consultation and contains 89 collaborative actions responding to community feedback. These actions are intended to improve and strengthen safety at local level.

As part of the review, Community Safety Wardens have been engaging with communities across Waterford, including in local libraries, village and town centres, shopping centres and at community events. Members of the public can also share their views through a short online survey, which will help shape future safety priorities.

For Kilmacthomas, this is a useful chance to raise practical local concerns and ideas. Issues might include road safety, public spaces, lighting, anti-social behaviour, community wellbeing, safe walking and cycling routes, or any other matter that affects how safe people feel in the area.

The current plan and further information are available through Waterford City and County Council’s Local Community Safety Partnership page. The online survey can be accessed through the link provided in the council announcement.
